Shantou International Convertion & Exhibition Center

‌Shantou International Convention and Exhibition Center‌ was designed by the team of the ‌South China University of Technology Architectural Design and Research Institute‌, led by ‌Academician He Jingtang‌ of the ‌Chinese Academy of Engineering‌. The project embodies ‌regional cultural identity‌, with the architectural theme "Riding the Tide, Sailing Forward". The building integrates ‌iconic, regional, international, and sustainable‌ design elements, resembling a ‌giant ship sailing‌ on the sea.

The interior design incorporates ‌Teochew cultural elements‌, such as ‌traditional carvings and ceramic mosaics‌, blending heritage craftsmanship with modern aesthetics to create a ‌landmark coastal structure‌.

Located in the ‌East Coast New Town of Shantou Overseas Chinese Economic and Cultural Test Zone‌, adjacent to the ‌Shantou Sports Center‌ and the ‌East Coast Campus of Shantou University‌, the center boasts a ‌prime location‌ and ‌efficient transportation networks‌, with ‌1-hour access‌ to the ‌airport, high-speed rail stations‌, and nearby cities like ‌Chaozhou and Jieyang‌.

Shantou is advancing a ‌high-level "123" transportation plan‌, aiming to achieve:

‌   30-minute commutes‌ within the ‌Shantou-Chaozhou-Jieyang region‌

‌   1-hour connectivity‌ across ‌eastern Guangdong‌

‌   2-hour access‌ to the ‌Greater Bay Area‌ and ‌coastal cities of Fujian, Zhejiang, and Guangdong‌

 ‌  3-hour coverage‌ of ‌major domestic and Southeast Asian cities

Shantou University (East Coast Campus)

Shantou University (STU), located in Shantou, Guangdong Province, was founded in 1981 with the approval ofthe State Council. As a comprehensive university under the urisdiction ot Guangdong, it was co-developed by China's Ministry of Education, Guangdong Province and the Li Ka Shing Foundation. STU is the first Higher Education institutional Reform Experiment Demonstration University in Guangdong, a university to develop keydisciplines under the high-level university development plan of Guangdong, a pilot university of Guangdong fordeepening education evaluation reform in the new era, an incubator of a Party building demonstration universityin Guangdong.
